Prevention in action 

Prevention is essential to counter urban violence. Initiatives include: 

  • The active presence of police officers in parks and at high schools as part of an effort to develop positive ties with youth. 
  • Initiatives meant to build bridges, including sports activities to help foster trust between youth and the SPL and a presence at various events attended by Laval residents.

Paradoxe consists of a series of concerted actions that aim to maintain public order, foster a greater feeling of safety among residents, and counter the phenomenon of firearm-related urban violence arising from rivalries within the criminal underworld. Joint efforts in prevention, information gathering, oversight and visibility make it possible to address issues of firearm-related urban violence across Laval in a coordinated and concerted manner.

The SAJ offers free and confidential support to young people aged 12 toSAJ provides confidential support free of charge to youth aged 12 to 24 who:

SAJ offers personalized support to any person wishing to change their situation. These services are offered to youth, parents and the people around them.
