Service
- You are required to have your septic tank emptied if your house is not connected to a municipal or private sewer network.
- The City of Laval is responsible for emptying septic tanks.
- You are responsible for scheduling any additional emptying at your own cost if your septic tank must be emptied more than once every two years. Please contact Environmental 360 Solutions Ltd., the company mandated by the City of Laval. Make sure to keep proof that the tank was emptied.
Schedule
- Septic tanks are emptied every two years between May 1 and November 15.
- At least 10 days beforehand, you will receive a notice by postal mail indicating the week when the septic tanks are emptied.
- You are not required to be present on the day that the tank is emptied.
- There are delays at times. Leave the covers accessible until you receive the septic tank emptying report (yellow notice).

What to do before the septic tank is emptied
- Help locate the septic tank (using a stake, for example) and leave all its openings accessible and safe.
- Clear a space measuring 1.5 metres around and 3 metres above the tank.
- Make sure the cover is easy to remove.
- Clean and clear access to the tank and the service area so that the truck can park at a maximum distance of 40 m from the tank openings.
- Keep your pets away or inside the house.
- Unlock the gate of the fence to provide access, if required.
- Follow the septic tank manufacturer’s emptying instructions to avoid breakage. (Example: Power off the pump for the treatment system).
Additional fees may apply if these guidelines are not respected and the septic tank cannot be emptied.
