Here\u2019s what you can do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to do immediately after a fire\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you are a homeowner :<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Call your insurance company.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you have insurance, it&#8217;s best to wait for your company to refer you to a disaster recovery expert. Hiring a cleaning expert on your own could result in a refusal of reimbursement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Retrieve your belongings by obtaining prior approval from the Laval Fire Department to return to the site.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find a place to stay temporarily, preferably with family or friends, or contact an organization for help.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inform your friends and family about the situation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leave your contact information with the Laval Fire Department or the Canadian Red Cross.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you are a tenant :\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Call your insurance company.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inform the landlord about the fire and provide them with the contact details of where you will be staying temporarily.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Retrieve your belongings by obtaining prior approval from the Laval Fire Department to return to the site.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find a place to stay temporarily, preferably with family or friends, or contact an organization for help.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inform your friends and family about the situation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The role of your insurance company<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Your insurance company must be informed as soon as possible.
