Please complete an online police report. It\u2019s practical, easy and accessible via a computer, tablet or cell phone.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Examples of theft and mischief for which an online report can be filed&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Mischief with damages valued at under $5,000\u200b. For example:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Damages to a shed \u200b\u200b&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Damages to a vehicle&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Damages to any other item\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Theft under $5,000. For example:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A handbag&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A lawnmower&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A bicycle\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Theft under $5,000 inside or on a vehicle\u200b. For example:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>GPS&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Glasses\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sports items\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A laptop computer&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A catalytic converter&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Before completing the report&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The police report can be submitted online provided that certain conditions are met. If you do not meet one of these conditions, please contact 911 to submit your report.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-vortex-blocks-accordions-group block-accordions-group accordion-container\">\n<section class=\"wp-block-vortex-blocks-accordion-item accordion ac\" id=\"strongstrongan-email-address-is-required-to-complete-a-report-strong-strong\"><div class=\"accordion__accordion\"><button class=\"accordion__header-row accordion-toggle ac-header ac-trigger\"><p class=\"accordion__header__title\"><strong><strong>An email address is required to complete a report <\/strong><\/strong><\/p><span class=\"accordion__header__icon\" role=\"presentation\"><span class=\"plus\"><\/span><\/span><\/button><div class=\"accordion__sub-rows wysiwyg ac-panel\" role=\"region\">\n<p>An email address is required to complete an online police report, since most communications are carried out by email.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-vortex-blocks-accordion-item accordion ac\" id=\"strongstrongonly-one-complainant-per-application-strong-strong\"><div class=\"accordion__accordion\"><button class=\"accordion__header-row accordion-toggle ac-header ac-trigger\"><p class=\"accordion__header__title\"><strong><strong>Only one complainant per application&nbsp;<\/strong><\/strong><\/p><span class=\"accordion__header__icon\" role=\"presentation\"><span class=\"plus\"><\/span><\/span><\/button><div class=\"accordion__sub-rows wysiwyg ac-panel\" role=\"region\">\n<p>There should only be one complainant per event. If you are the victim of a theft of a property item that you co-own, such as a shed, you can complete an application, but only one owner should be named as the complainant.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-vortex-blocks-accordion-item accordion ac\" class=\"accordion__header__title\"><strong><strong>The report must be completed within six months&nbsp;<\/strong><\/strong><\/p><span class=\"accordion__header__icon\" role=\"presentation\"><span role=\"region\">\n<p>In the presence of a witness or a suspected person, contact 911 instead.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is a witness?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A person who saw someone commit a crime and who is able to accurately describe or recognize the person responsible for the crime.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is a suspected person?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The person responsible for a crime, who was seen by you or by a witness and who is known or can be accurately described.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-vortex-blocks-accordion-item accordion ac\" id=\"strongstrongother-exclusions-from-the-online-report-strong-strong\"><div class=\"accordion__accordion\"><button class=\"accordion__header-row accordion-toggle ac-header ac-trigger\"><p class=\"accordion__header__title\"><strong><strong>Other exclusions from the online report&nbsp;<\/strong><\/strong><\/p><span class=\"accordion__header__icon\" role=\"presentation\"><span class=\"plus\"><\/span><\/span><\/button><div class=\"accordion__sub-rows wysiwyg ac-panel\" role=\"region\">\n<p>Here are some examples of situations in which you cannot file an online report, along with recommended courses of action.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For a car or license plate theft, contact 911.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For identity theft, <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/14dXp1YIMQad5VC4NAy6dINHO-Nd_GsWo\/edit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">view the information on frauds<\/a>. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For passport theft, notify <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/fr\/immigration-refugies-citoyennete\/services\/passeports-canadiens\/perdu-vole-inaccessible-endommage-trouve.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Passport Canada<\/a>. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For a theft from a shed, <a class=\"accordion__header-row accordion-toggle ac-header ac-trigger\"><p class=\"accordion__header__title\"><strong><strong>Certain details may be approximate<\/strong><\/strong><\/p><span class=\"accordion__header__icon\" role=\"presentation\"><span class=\"plus\"><\/span><\/span><\/button><div class=\"accordion__sub-rows wysiwyg ac-panel\" role=\"region\">\n<p>Many details can be provided to the best of your knowledge:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you don\u2019t know the exact location of the theft, you can complete the online report indicating only the intersection or the name of the public or commercial place where the incident occurred (e.g., Centre de la nature).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you don\u2019t know the exact time of the incident, indicate the date and an approximate time (e.g.,\u202fbetween 8 p.m. and 7\u202fa.m.).\u200b&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you don\u2019t know the exact amount of the damages, enter an approximate amount in the designated box.\u200b&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Registering the serial number is recommended but not required. If the stolen item is recovered, its serial number will make it possible to return it to you.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-vortex-blocks-accordion-item accordion ac\" id=\"strongstrongwatch-out-for-false-declarations-strong-strong\"><div class=\"accordion__accordion\"><button class=\"accordion__header-row accordion-toggle ac-header ac-trigger\"><p class=\"accordion__header__title\"><strong><strong>Watch out for false declarations<\/strong><\/strong><\/p><span class=\"accordion__header__icon\" role=\"presentation\"><span class=\"plus\"><\/span><\/span><\/button><div class=\"accordion__sub-rows wysiwyg ac-panel\" role=\"region\">\n<p>Submitting a false report to police is considered a <a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/fra\/lois\/C-46\/section-140.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">criminal offence<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The online police report cannot be modified once it has been submitted. Once you have submitted the report, you can provide additional information to the agent assigned to your case file.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the event of a technical problem or any other problem with this service, you can report the incident: &nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>By calling&nbsp;<s> <\/s>911.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>By going in person to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.laval.ca\/police\/Pages\/Fr\/nous-joindre.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">police station<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the next steps after the report is submitted?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Service de police de Laval will process your report within five business days in accordance with the following steps:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You will receive a first email acknowledging receipt of your report. This email will contain your temporary file number.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You will receive a second email informing you that an agent will process and review your report.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you have any additional information to share with the agent, this is the time to do so.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the report has been reviewed, the official event number will be sent to you.
