class=\"is-style-intro-text\">Have you been the victim of a crime and are dissatisfied with the treatment you received from the Service de police de Laval (SPL)?\u202fYou can file a complaint.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Concerned parties for filing a complaint<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Within the meaning of the Act to assist persons who are victims of criminal offences and to facilitate their recovery (LAPVIC), the following persons are considered victims:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Person directly involved who was victimized by the crime and who feels wronged or dissatisfied as a result of the treatment they received from the Service de police de Laval.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Parent of or person who has parental authority over a child (aged 14 or under) who is victimized by a crime or who dies as a result of a crime.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Child of a parent or a person with parental authority who is victimized by a crime or who dies as a result of a crime.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Spouse of a person who is victimized by a crime or who dies as a result of a crime.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Person in charge of a person who is victimized by a crime or who dies as a result of a crime.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Loved one of a person who is victimized by a crime or who dies as a result of a crime.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&nbsp;Person who witnesses a crime or a crime scene.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n  <div class=\"notification-message notification-message__bg-alert-circle\" \n  >\n   <div data-ccp-parastyle=\"Normal0\">no later than six months after the date of the event and can <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW171322331 BCX8\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"Normal0\">concern any person employed by the <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TrackedChange SCXW171322331 BCX8\"><span class=\"TextRun SCXW171322331 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-CA\" xml:lang=\"EN-CA\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW171322331 BCX8\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"Normal0\">SPL, <\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW171322331 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-CA\" xml:lang=\"EN-CA\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW171322331 BCX8\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"Normal0\">including police <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW171322331 BCX8\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"Normal0\">and <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW171322331 BCX8\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"Normal0\">civil<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW171322331 BCX8\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"Normal0\">ian<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW171322331 BCX8\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"Normal0\"> personnel<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW232198321 BCX0\" data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n      <\/div>\n      <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types and categories of complaints\u202f&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your complaint concerning the quality of the service offered by SPL personnel must concern actions, inactions, the use of language, or conduct observed during the treatment of the victim\u2019s case file.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To facilitate the complaint process, seven categories have been established in accordance with victims\u2019 rights.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Right to particip\u200bation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The victim has the right, regarding the crime at the origin of their harm or loss, to have their views and concerns taken into consideration when their rights consideration\u202f&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The victim has a right to be treated with courtesy, fairness and understanding and with respect for their dignity and privacy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Right to protection&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The victim has the right, given the available resources, to protection against attempts at intimidation or reprisals.
