If none are present, follow traffic lights.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Always make eye contact with drivers. If that\u2019s not possible, assume they don\u2019t see you.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Walk on the sidewalk or, if unavailable, on the roadside facing traffic.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Always check traffic in all directions before crossing.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be extra cautious around heavy vehicles. Their blind spots limit visibility. If you can\u2019t see the driver\u2019s eyes in the mirror or window, they can\u2019t see you either.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wear visible clothing: bright colors or reflective strips.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Stay alert and avoid distractions like headphones, cell phones, or texting while walking or crossing the street.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you&#8217;re cycling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Just like drivers, cyclists must follow the rules outlined in the Highway Safety Code. Wearing bright clothing or reflective strips is also recommended.
