The installation must be compliant by September 30, 2025.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Applicable standards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.laval.ca\/reglements-permis\/index-reglements\/?findstr[q]=L-280&amp;findstr[group]=regulations\" data-type=\"regulation\" data-id=\"8504\">Bylaw L-280<\/a> concerning the construction of fences around swimming pools and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.laval.ca\/reglements-permis\/index-reglements\/?findstr[q]=L-11807&amp;findstr[group]=regulations\" data-type=\"regulation\" data-id=\"8831\">Bylaw L-11807<\/a> concerning pool safety have been repealed. They have been replaced by transitional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.laval.ca\/reglements-permis\/index-reglements\/?findstr[q]=L-12907&amp;findstr[group]=regulations\" data-type=\"regulation\" data-id=\"9047\">By-law L-12907<\/a> which ensures that existing installations are maintained or rebuilt in compliance with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quebec.ca\/habitation-territoire\/piscines-et-spas\/securite-piscines-residentielles\/securisez-piscine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">provincial regulations<\/a> by September 30, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pools installed before November 1, 2010\u00a0<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Installations must be compliant by September 30, 2025.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To find out whether your existing installations are compliant, read the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quebec.ca\/habitation-territoire\/piscines-et-spas\/securite-piscines-residentielles\/securisez-piscine#c260971\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Minist\u00e8re des Affaires municipales et de l&#8217;Habitation self-assessment form<\/a> that corresponds to your situation.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To find out which standards apply to a pool or spa, see the Quebec government&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn-contenu.quebec.ca\/cdn-contenu\/adm\/min\/affaires-municipales\/publications\/ministere\/securite_piscines_residentielles\/NAP_ReglPiscineResi_VFD.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">explanatory document<\/a> (PDF, 1,22\u00a0Mo).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pools installed between November 1, 2010 and July 1, 2021\u00a0<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No changes required for installations that comply with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.laval.ca\/reglements-permis\/index-reglements\/?findstr[q]=L-11807&amp;findstr[group]=regulations\" data-type=\"regulation\" data-id=\"8831\">Bylaw L-11807\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pools purchased before July 1, 2021 and installed between July 1 and September 30, 2021, must comply with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.laval.ca\/reglements-permis\/index-reglements\/?findstr[q]=L-11807&amp;findstr[group]=regulations\" data-type=\"regulation\" data-id=\"8831\">Bylaw L-11807<\/a>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pools purchased and installed after July 1, 2021\u00a0<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Read the applicable provincial regulation on home pools.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preventing access to the pool\u00a0\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All homeowners must ensure that their swimming pools comply with current regulations. The safety of your family, friends and guests depends on it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pools or spas over 2,000 litres must be enclosed to prevent access.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Spas (Must be protected by a solid, rigid cover to prevent access when not in use).\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In-ground and semi-in-ground pools (must be enclosed by fencing to prevent access).\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Above-ground pools with a wall height of less than 1.2 m and portable pools with a wall height of less than 1.4 m must be fenced off to prevent access.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Above-ground or portable pools do not need an enclosure if access to the pool is by:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns ground.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Minimum height of enclosure\u00a0<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In the case of a new pool adjacent to an existing balcony or patio, the existing guardrail must be replaced or modified to comply with the mandatory minimum height of 1.2 metres, according to residential pool safety regulations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Applying for a permit\u00a0\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before applying for a permit, make sure you have all the required documents. Also, please read the current regulations and plan where to place the installation. may discover archaeological remains (structures or objects) on your property.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quebec&#8217;s Cultural Heritage Act requires anyone who discovers an archaeological object or remains to report it to the Minist\u00e8re de la Culture et des Communications immediately.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are three ways to report your archaeological find:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete the notice of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quebec.ca\/culture\/patrimoine-archeologie\/archeologie\/declarer-decouverte\" data-type=\"link\"
