Ville de Laval issued the "Residential buildings architectural guide" to improve the quality of the built environment. This guide is based on 5 landscaping principles that every residential project should meet:

Principle 1

Favour exterior cladding materials in masonry.

Principle 2

Regulate the height of the outer wall according to the centre of the street.

Principle 3

Lower the threshold at the main entrance.

Principle 4

Lower the height of balconies/terraces in the back yard.

Principle 5

Submit some buildings to the procedure applicable to integrated projects.
